Cedar House is a small, relationship-centred school where young people matter, are treated with respect, and encouraged to think independently. Curiosity, kindness, and real engagement drive the way we teach and learn. No rigid formality. No cookie-cutter moulds. Just a community where learning feels alive.

We believe that students learn best when they feel safe, seen, and inspired. Our classrooms are places where questions matter, individuality is celebrated, and critical thinking and collaboration are encouraged. We focus on rich discussions, thoughtful learning, and nurturing confident, compassionate young people.

Our goal is simple: we grow young people who are curious, courageous, kind, and ready for today’s world. We want students who know themselves, who can think critically, and who can collaborate with others while staying true to who they are.

Our classes are intentionally small, but vary depending on subject choice. This allows teachers to know each student well, their strengths, their quirks, and their learning styles, and to support them with genuine attention and care.

We don’t expect children to fit into one idea of success. We support different learning styles, personalities, and interests. Students are encouraged to ask questions, express themselves, and explore who they are without fear of judgment.

We welcome applications for Grades 4 to 12 throughout the year.

Our process is personal and relaxed. It usually includes an application form, recent school reports, and a family meeting or visit. We want to understand your child’s learning journey and give them space to get to know us, too.

No. We do not use entrance exams. We conduct an interview, not a test, to get a sense of how the student approaches learning and life.

We welcome a variety of learning profiles. If your child has additional support needs, we will talk openly with you about the level of support we can offer and how we can best set them up for success.

Siblings receive warm and positive consideration. However, admissions are not automatic; each child is viewed as an individual with unique needs.

Each application is considered on its merits. Some grades fill quickly, and additional applications are placed on the waiting list. Spaces often open later in the year as families move or circumstances change.

Fees are reviewed annually. Families may pay in twelve equal monthly instalments (January–December), or settle in full by 31 January for a five per cent discount. Siblings qualify for a five per cent fee reduction. All fees must be settled by the end of each year.

A three-month notice period (in writing) is required for withdrawal.

We don’t have a formal aftercare programme, but all campuses remain open until 17:00 daily with staff in attendance.

Absolutely, and we encourage it. A visit is the best way to get a feel for our community, see learning in action, and chat with our students and teachers. Our admissions team will happily arrange a tour.
